Hey Kids!!
I am so excited you are taking this class! My name is Ashley Campbell. I have 5 kids: 3 boys and 2 girls. I think kids are pretty much the most fantastic people on the planet. Really – you guys are so unique and cool. Each of you have different gifts, talents, interests, and stories. I am so happy I get to be the one to teach you a few things about photography.
Before we get started, I want to share a photo of my family with you:
I’ve got a pretty fun bunch – and a lot of subjects to practice my photography skills on every day! Thankfully, they usually don’t mind when they see me pull out my camera.
I have been teaching adults how to use their cameras for about 10 years. Some of you weren’t even alive when I started teaching! Over the next several weeks, we are going to learn about photography together. Adults are pretty fun to teach, but teaching you guys…I AM SO EXCITED!
You do not need to be an adult (or even a teenager) to be an awesome photographer. I hope when you finish these 30 lessons the adults in your life will be asking you to be the family photographer!
Each lesson includes a “Today’s Task.” These are easy ways for you to practice what we talk about each day.
On most of the lessons, I will include a little note to your parents or the adult in your life. The notes will include links to adult lessons I wrote on the same or similar topics. If you want to learn more about a specific topic, you can ask your parent or an adult to help you check out those links. Encourage your parents to learn alongside you!
Each day you can use the Table of Contents page to help you find the next lesson you are on, but today you can simply click below.
You can practice everything you learn on your own, but if you have a sibling, friend, or adult that wants to learn with you, this course is a great way to spend time together. Read the lessons together and then have fun practicing. Be sure to use encouraging words with each other and remember you are both learning. Everything takes practice, so don’t get discouraged if your pictures aren’t exactly the way you want.
But most of all – HAVE FUN!!
